STREET CLEANUP
Have you ever walked on Bennet Street by our very own Pittman Elementary School and seen trash on either side of the street? This is the very street our kids in our neighborhood walk or ride their bikes to get to and from school. For that reason, the Oak Grove Neighborhood started The City of Springfield Adopt a Street Project, so we can make it a safe and clean trip. We participate every year, 3 to 4 times a year starting in Spring and pushing through the beginning of fall. If we are ever rained out of an occasion, then we reschedule as soon as possible.

Our Fearless Leader Betty
Our Street Cleanup Committee Leader Betty has taken on the torch for over 10 years now. She has been driven into taking over in cleaning up, beautifying, participating in any event we have, and let’s not forget going back and forth as either an officer or on our board for even longer. Betty truly embodies true dedication, love, and respect for the community, and we hope you take the time to participate so you can meet her. Everyone is welcome.
Donate
Giving your time is always a wonderful thing, but we understand people are busy and sometimes just can’t. If you would rather donate items, then the items we use are best to give. Plastic black or green 39-gallon yard bags, grabbers (pick up and reach tool), gardener gloves (they have a plastic coating), or any gift cars that sell those very items.
Location & Time
We clean Bennet Street between Oak Grove Avenue and Plaza Avenue. We provide vests to wear that are bright and keep you seen, bags to fill, gloves, and grabbers for convenience and safety. The more we fill the more get off our streets. We have picked up all kinds of trash from diapers to rims, so please come out and help. The more people we have, the faster it goes. We meet on scheduled Saturdays at 9 in the morning in the parking lot of Holy Trinity Church, which is nicely in the middle of Bennet Street.
BEAUTIFICATION
We come together to make sure that our neighborhood looks great as well as represents itself in the best way. Our Beautification Committee is happy to welcome anyone that wants to participate in giving there time or recourses needed to better our community.

Our Growing Leader Mathew
Taking up the mantle of running the Beautification Committee is our very own Mathew. Our beautification committee is somewhat new this year. We have always tried to help in this area, we just made it more official. Mathew fell into native plants and urban gardening as not just a hobby, but he and his family have taken it on as a team at home as well.
Donate
We are always looking for help with the Beautification of our neighborhood. If you are able to donate that would greatly help. The items we need do not stay the same besides mulch because of what we do in each season. We do plant, beautify areas, and cleanup places that need it, so if you would like to donate a gift card then make sure its to a location with any plants, soil, mulch, or any other landscaping items.
Location & Time
Beautification Committee meets at 8am every Saturday morning starting in April, unless another event is scheduled. At the moment we meet at the Oak Grove Community Center. However, there is no set place since we look at all areas of Oak Grove Neighborhood. Please contact us to find out more detailed information to know where to go and meet up.

With Neighborhood Watch we are able to protect our neighborhood and watch out for one another. We work together, communicate, report what we see, and keep everyone in the know in our neighborhood. We work with our Par Officer on keeping him updated and vice versa. This is a committee that can’t grow enough, the more the safer.
We are proud to say that Oak Grove Neighborhood has a Neighborhood Watch. At the moment we are in the middle of setting up our Neighborhood Watch Committee Leaders as well as times they will meet. We will add it once we have that information to give. Please check back with us soon.
